Privacy Policy
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) [confirm: "because we are covered by the Act" or "voluntarily"]. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and how to contact us.
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, email address and phone number, when you fill in a form, download a document, sign up for updates or call us.
- Information about your plans that you choose to give us, for example your budget, finance approval, whether you own land, preferred areas, existing property portfolio and the housing models you are interested in.
- Purchase details when you buy an event ticket or become an Armchair Investor. Payments are processed by Humanitix; we never see or store your full card details.
- Messages, questions and feedback you send us.
- Website usage information, such as pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location and how you arrived at the site, collected through cookies and similar tools.
- Photos or video of you if you attend one of our events (see Event Terms).
We do not ask for sensitive information such as health details. Please do not send it to us.
How we collect it
Mostly directly from you: through website forms, Humanitix, email, phone and at events. We also receive information from our service providers (for example, whether you opened an email) and from people who refer you to us with your permission.
Why we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and send you what you asked for, such as The Five Pillars or project figures.
- To provide Armchair Investor updates, event tickets and event information.
- To understand your situation so we can talk to you about suitable housing models.
- To send you news, event updates and offers, if you have agreed to receive them.
- To run, secure and improve the website and our services.
- To meet our legal obligations.
Email and marketing
We only send marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them or where the law otherwise allows. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop by emailing info@futurehousingtaskforce.com.au. We do not sell your personal information or give it to others for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who help us run the Taskforce: Duda (website and forms), Mailchimp (email), Humanitix (tickets and payments), Google (analytics and email) and YouTube (embedded videos) [add any others, e.g. accounting or CRM tools].
- Builders, finance brokers, lawyers or other professionals, but only when you ask us to connect you with them.
- Anyone we are required or authorised by law to share it with.
Overseas storage
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States [confirm other countries, e.g. the EU or New Zealand]. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard similar to the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and analytics
The website uses cookies to work properly, to measure visits (Google Analytics) and to play embedded YouTube videos and the Humanitix ticket window. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work as well without them. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including secure providers and limited staff access. We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, then delete or de-identify it. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by law.
Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing info@futurehousingtaskforce.com.au or calling 1800 10 1000. We will respond within 30 days. You can deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym for general enquiries, but we need your details to send tickets, subscriptions or documents.
Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the OAIC at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
Disclaimer
General information only
Everything on this website, in our videos, emails, documents, calculator and at our events is general information and education. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal, planning or building advice, and it does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Before making any decision, get independent advice from a licensed financial adviser, accountant, solicitor, finance broker and, where relevant, a town planner and licensed builder.
No financial services or credit licence
Future Housing Task Force Pty Ltd does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence or an Australian Credit Licence. Kevin Doodney is not a licensed financial adviser. Nothing on this website is an offer or invitation to invest in, or acquire an interest in, any financial product, managed investment scheme or project.
Figures, returns and the calculator
Build costs, rents, yields, returns (including "up to 8.5%"), prices such as "from $295,000" and all calculator results are estimates only. They are:
- based on assumptions stated beside them, for example $425 per room per week for 50 weeks a year, and on information available on [date the figures were set];
- gross figures, before loan costs, interest, tax, insurance, council rates, body corporate fees, management, maintenance, vacancies and approval costs, unless stated otherwise;
- not a forecast, promise or guarantee of any result.
Actual costs, rents and returns depend on the site, design, approvals, builder, finance, market conditions and many other factors, and can be lower than shown. Past projects are not a reliable guide to future results. Property values and rents can go down as well as up.
Housing models, plans and images
The Smarter Smaller Homes™ models (The Original, Living Mortgage Free, Own Your Room, Duplex – Mini Subdivision and Village Living) are concepts. Each project needs its own site assessment, council and building approvals, and legal and tax structure. Some models, such as shared or co-ownership arrangements, may require specialist legal advice. Plans, floor areas and drawings, including Plan 260706, are for illustration only and are not for construction. Renders and visualisations are artist's impressions; photos of completed homes show past projects and may differ from future builds.
Planning and legal information
Planning rules, rooming accommodation laws and government schemes change often. Information on this website is current only at the date shown on the relevant page or article and may be out of date when you read it. Always check current rules with your council or a professional.
Referrals
If you ask, we may introduce you to builders, finance brokers, lawyers or other professionals. You deal with them directly and are responsible for checking their licences and terms. [Choose one: "We do not receive any fee or commission for these introductions." OR "We may receive a referral fee from [names/types of businesses]. We will tell you before we make the introduction."]
Third-party content and claims
News articles, interviews, podcasts and videos by other people reflect their own views. Statements about our track record, such as the number of rooms built or years of experience, are made in good faith from our records [confirm each claim is backed by records].
Armchair Investor Terms
What it is
Armchair Investor is an $80 [confirm: inc. GST] information subscription. It lets you follow the Taskforce's live projects for [12 months from the date of purchase / until The Great Australian Housing Challenge on 20–22 August 2027 – choose one].
What it is not
The name "Armchair Investor" describes following the projects from home. It is not an investment. Becoming an Armchair Investor does not:
- give you any share, interest, ownership or profit in any project, property or company;
- entitle you to any return, income or payment;
- make you a member of the company or give you voting rights;
- amount to financial advice or an offer of a financial product.
What is included
- Monthly video updates on the live projects.
- The project numbers and timeframes we choose to share, as general information (see the Disclaimer).
- The chance to send questions to the Taskforce. We aim to answer within [X business days] but cannot answer every question personally.
The content, format and timing of updates may change. If we stop providing the updates before the end of your subscription, we will refund a fair share of the $80 [confirm].
The $80 ticket credit
If you buy a full ticket to The Great Australian Housing Challenge, $80 comes off the ticket price, once per subscription. The credit [confirm: applies to Standard and Early Bird tickets / must be used by (date) / is not transferable / has no cash value]. [Explain how it is applied, e.g. with a discount code emailed after purchase.]
Buying and refunds
Payment is made through Humanitix, and Humanitix's terms also apply to the purchase. Refunds: [choose a policy, e.g. "You can cancel for a full refund within 14 days of purchase if you have not used the ticket credit. After that, the subscription is non-refundable except as required by the Australian Consumer Law."] Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Confidential material
Some Armchair Investor content may include details of projects that are not public. Please do not share, record or republish it without our permission. Videos and documents remain our property.
Ending access
We may end a subscription, with a pro-rata refund, if someone misuses the content or is abusive to our team or other subscribers.
Event Terms
These terms apply to The Great Australian Housing Challenge (20–22 August 2027, Brisbane) and our other events, together with Humanitix's terms of sale.
Tickets
- Tickets are sold through Humanitix. Early Bird prices apply only until the date shown (currently 30 October 2026) or until sold out.
- A ticket admits one person. [Confirm: tickets can be transferred to another person by emailing us before (date).]
- Refunds: [choose a policy, e.g. "Full refund up to 30 days before the event; no refund after that, but you can transfer your ticket."] This does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Changes to the event
We may need to change the program, speakers, venues, project sites, bus tour route or timings. We will tell ticket holders about significant changes as early as we can. If we cancel the event, or move it to a new date you cannot attend, you can choose a full refund of the ticket price. We are not responsible for travel, accommodation or other costs you pay yourself.
Site visits and the bus tour
Project visits may take place on building sites or completed homes. You must follow the safety directions of our staff and the site manager, wear enclosed shoes and any protective equipment provided, and not enter areas marked as off limits. You take part at your own risk, except to the extent that we are responsible under the law.
Photos and filming
We photograph and film our events and may use the images and footage on our website, social media and promotional material. If you do not want to appear, please tell our staff at registration.
Conduct
We want a respectful event. We may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone who behaves in an abusive, unsafe or disruptive way, without a refund.
Information at events
Presentations, figures and discussions at our events are general information only (see the Disclaimer). Speakers who are not part of the Taskforce speak for themselves.
